Migraines PDF Print E-mail
MigrainsMigraines are the chronic headaches suffered by millions of persons in the world and for which there are many treatment but none to eradicate them permanently.

Migraines are caused by the inflammation of arteries near the trigeminal nerve branches which, when rubbed by the expanded arteries, cause intense migraine pain. So, the cure should be to reduce the arteries inflammation. Few remedies are effective for a fast relief or to prevent such inflammations. However, a limited prescription medicine of pills or shots can be very effective for fast relief but very expensive at about $15.00 per pill.  Consult with your Doctor if Cafergot or similar medication is acceptable for you.

Some migraines are caused by consumption of alcohol, chocolate, eggs, cheese, along with periods of menstruation, stress, lack of sleep, bright lights, driving with sun on your eyes or just glare from the windshield or a window. A proven prevention is to take some food with you, on a daily basis. There are other supplements or over the counter products for migraines. The best time to take them is about half hour before going to bed.  Consult with your doctor if this is advisable for you. Other cures may be found in acupuncture, yoga, feedback and deep breathing exercises promoted by naturalists. Migraines often disappear in senior years.
